There was no pirate attack at all. The captain heard gunfire and decided to evacuate the crew to the citadel. This was stated to Maritime.bg by a representative of “Kyra Global”. The company is listed as Ship manager/Commercial manager of m/v LILA NORFOLK.

The company, based in Dubai, commented that a team from the special forces of the Indian Navy conducted a boarding check. The commandos did not find any presence of persons who are not members of the crew, the operators of LILA NORFOLK said.

Until now, it was assumed that the ship with a 21-member crew had been the target of a pirate attack.
